Write to the desk, and expect an actual answer
One person reads everything that arrives. Corrections are answered before anything else, and tips about ground we have not walked come a close second.

The desk reads post Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, Eastern Time. Letters sent on Sunday or Monday are read on Tuesday, and everything gets an answer.
The telephone rings on a desk, not in a queue, and outside those hours it takes a message. There is no office to visit: the address is a small room in a building full of other small rooms, and there is nothing to see in it.
What gets answered first
- 1. Corrections. A wrong fact in a published piece goes to the top of the pile and is handled the same week. The method page explains how corrections are printed.
- 2. Ground that has changed. A closed path, a rebuilt block, a bridge under repair, a gate that is now locked. This keeps the journal honest between walks.
- 3. Tips. A street, a stair, a line of trees, a lane behind something. Most of what gets walked started as somebody else's note.
- 4. Permission to reprint. Usually yes, with attribution and a link. Ask.
- 5. Everything else, in the order it arrived.
What the desk cannot help with
- Anything to do with a flight, a ticket or a booking. This journal sells nothing, and the flight search is run by a separate company whose support is the one that can act.
- Where to stay, where to eat and what to see in the photographed middle. Not our subject, and there are better answers elsewhere.
- Requests to be featured. There is nothing to buy here and no route has ever been published because it was asked for by an interested party.
Nobody from this journal will ever telephone asking for a payment, a card number or an account detail. There is nothing here that could require one.
